The missing link for the Hebridean Way Cycle Trip was it not being a loop. It meant that if you start in Vatersay and finish at the Butt of Lewis, you have to make your way back to Barra for your ferry to Oban. In addition to this many people trying to book this trip may find that there are a limited amount of (car) spaces on the ferry from Oban to Barra as well as limited amount of accommodation during the peak of the season on this island.
We from HebShuttle, offer an alternative which offer more opportunities for people to come to the Outer Hebrides.
Our transfer services make it possible for you to consider to leave your car in Skye and walk on to the ferry with or without bike if you are renting bikes through us. Walking on the ferry means you are not depending on available car spaces. The crossing to Lochmaddy is a short and very reliable trip. Our transfer service will take you to your accommodation on Uist which offers many places for you to stay.
You can decide to book our transfer the next day to take you to the ferry terminal on Eriskay fro where the ferry will take you on a 40 mins crossing to Barra. Here you start your bike ride warming up on a short trip to Castlebay which is the capital of the island.
From here it is a short trip to Vatersay where your Hebridean Way Cycle trip will officially begin. So, day 1 of your cycle trip is a round trip on Barra which takes you back to the ferry and back onto Eriskay, South Uist where you continue your trip to your accommodation.
Depending on how many miles you want to cycle this can be anywhere from Eriskay, South Uist even to Benbecula if you wish.
Continue from here all the way to Lewis to reach the most north westerly point the Butt of Lewis. Here we will pick you up and transfer you to Stornoway where some of our customers take the plane home as they have rented the bikes or request us to put their bike with a courier. Most customers will spend the evening in Stornoway and get our transfer the next day to Tarbert, which is a short bus ride to your ferry to Uig in Skye where you car will be or bus will be waiting.
This makes the loop complete.
