Barra here we come!

Barra here we come!

Jonny and I will be visiting Tony from Barra Bike Hire to see how we can collaborate with the aim to offer an even better experience for people wanting to do the Hebridean Way Cycle trip.

We will set off tomorrow morning early to make our way to the Sound of Harris ferry, crossing from Leverburgh to Berneray.

From there we pop round our current office in Balivanich on Benbecula. We hope we to announce our move to Creagorry real soon. Watch this space.

We will be on the 13:00 leaving from Eriskay, arriving in Ardmhor, Barra 40 minutes later.

We were planning to take the van onto Barra but the ferry is full and we are not the standby list. Just called and still no place available, so we have a rental car on standby on the other side just in case.

We will be meeting with Tony and hopefully have some time to pop round the Isle of Barra distillery shop and take some photos and wee videos to show you beautiful Barra.

Our return ferry leaves at 17:20 to Eriskay but there won't be any ferries in North Uist that day to take us back onto Harris. This means we have to book an overnight stay. We do this in Liniclate, so there is time to pop round our office again close by before we head off to the ferry at Berneray to Harris. Then a 1.5 hours drive into Stornoway.

We expect to be back in Stornoway just before 2pm.

So one meeting takes two days, two ferries, an overnight stay whilst driving through the stunning Outer Hebrides landscape.

No doubt we will meet familiar faces on the ferries, see what the craic is, time for a yarn.

Things in the Outer Hebrides are very much determined by the weather, tides and ferry/plane time tables. The honesty is that there is no difference who or what you are. So I am checking the weather and all is this moment. I will be sure to take some extra clothing with me in the bag as you ever know.

I will update you on our meeting with Tony and what it means for you if you are planning a cycling trip in the Outer Hebrides. We aim to collaborate with other service providers to make your experience the best it can be.

Seeing Tony is not just a meeting on another island, it is an undertaking, an adventure involving two days travelling. Imagine where you would be after two days travelling if you live on the mainland..
